HOW CAN WE KNOW?

After the children in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe get into Narnia they discover that Lucy's friend, Mr. Tumnus, has been arrested for “fraternizing with humans” and other high crimes against the white witch. They don't know where to turn to find secret friends. Luckily a Robin finds them and leads them along. After they have followed it for some distance, hopping from tree to tree, Edmond pulls Peter aside and points out that they don't know anything about this bird, and they don't even…See More

FAKE NEWS

Some of you are familiar with Michael Cernovich. Somebody is familiar with him. During just one month last year Michael had 83 million twitter views. It was Michael who reported that Hillary Clinton had Parkinson’s Disease during the recent presidential race. When confronted on 60 Minutes, Michael said he still believed this and other things he wrote even though sources he listed denied they had ever spoken to him.The 60 Minutes reporter emphasized that the problem of fake news primarily on…See More

THE SINNER'S PRAYER

I have tremendous respect for David Platt. I pray nearly every day for God to continue to use him mightily. I recommend listening to his sermons. You can find many of them on YouTube. David has shocked people by preaching against telling people to pray a sinner's prayer. He rightly notes that we have been guilty of communicating to people that they can be right with God by praying those words as a sort of ritual without becoming a disciple of Jesus Christ.I agree with David. But I also believe…See More

THE HOPE OF THE GOSPEL

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: That Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, and that He rose again on the third day according to the Scriptures."Have you ever had a doctor tell you, you are going to die? I have. And I cannot fully explain the sensation. But whether there are enough evidences of the imminence of your death to alert your doctor or not, you are going to die.Death is indeed a dark prospect. I suspect most of you…See More

THE WITNESS OF THE GOSPEL

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance:  that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the scriptures, and that he appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, he he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of them are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, and to all the apostles, and last of all he appeared to…See More

WRITE DOWN THE REVELATION

Continue to look with me at this powerful passage from Habakkuk 2. Verse 2 reads,“Then the LORD replied: Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”Let's focus on two applications of this verse; The Foundation of Writing                    andThe Purpose of WritingIt stretches metaphor to say the foundation of our writing is from above. But I think you get the point here. When you are in fellowship with God you will see the same things you saw…See More

THE IMPORTANCE OF THE GOSPEL

In the week that we set aside to celebrate the cross and the resurrection of Jesus we remind one another of importance of the gospel. In 1 Corinthians 15 Paul reminds the believers in Corinth, and a thousand generations who would follow, of the gospel that transforms lives. Verses one through three read,"Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to…See More

WRITING FROM THE RAMPARTS OF PRAYER

Many Christian writers are familiar with Habakkuk 2:1-3. God has used those words to speak to us and encourage you in our writing. In the next few weeks I would like to link those verses with writing prayerfully.Verse 1 reads,“I will stand at my watch   and station myself on the ramparts;I will look to see what he will say to me,   and what answer I am to give to this complaint.”Jesus called us to “Watch and pray.” Most of us rightly think of watching so we can pray. But, have ever prayer…See More

David, apologies for taking so long to get back to you - my recent out-of-state move has pretty much dominated my time and I'm only now getting back to being on PN consistently.  I appreciate what you shared and the heart of integrity behind it.  You are a great example to me!

I would also say that praying for the SC justices by name and simply leaving in God's hands how he wants to work in their lives and through their rulings is a very valid way to pray.  The strength of our prayers is not in the words, but in the One to whom we pray - not that you need to hear that from me!!
